For my Art 107 class I am required to keep a blog, which is by no means a problem with me. Art is hard- contrary to everyones belief, it is one of the more difficult things to do. There is no mathematical formula that will guarantee you success in this field, because if you create something that you think is fabulous, someone else might think it is junk. Long story short, if you plan to make a living being an artist, you better hope the people like what you make and buy it. I've been cruising the internet and looking at various art gallery sites to see what kinds of art interest me, and the one thing that I have found that I cannot stand are people claiming to be artists when they smear something on a canvas without actually attempting to make anything. Anyone can claim to be an artist now, which can be a good thing, but a lot of the art I've found online is a bunch of hullabaloo and without form. When you can see the lack of heart and workmanship in the piece, that is where I consider it not art.
